All posts for the month December, 2015

Saturday, December 12, 2015,  1-3:00 pm:

The KKK has apparently decided they can’t face determined opposition and have bailed on their protest at the Center.  The updated rally plan is to gather at Fair Park at 1:00 on Saturday, then march down Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd to the Martin Luther King Center where the rally will be held.

The march will begin with speakers at a private residence near White Rock Lake in Dallas, then walk approx. 12 minutes on Garland Road to the Arboretum (an orange shirt will get you free admission), then back to the residence.  Contact below to RSVP and learn the exact address.
Wear Orange and demonstrate that we will not stop moving forward, will keep being visible, will never give up.  They ask: “Wear Orange!”   But our yellow says it all, too! 🙂
Please RSVP to Rebecca Marmaduke at GunSense@Oakcliffuu.org
or 214.240.4266 for details on the walk.

A Peace Rally has been organized for Saturday, December 12, 2015, 1-2:30 pm.

At the request of both the Irving Islamic Center and the Richardson Mosque (following on the tail of the KKK’s cancelling their protest), the Unity protest has been moved to the MLK, Jr. Center in the Fair Park area.

The march will start at Fair Park and proceed to the MLK Jr. Center (a short walk). There will be speakers and voter registrars have been asked to bring their materials.

Parking options are two:  (1) Fair Park – the last word is that there is some free parking (other than Music Hall – I believe the Butterfly Garden area is free); and (2) MLK Jr. Center – where parking may be at a premium.  At any rate, you’ll have to walk both directions, no matter where you park. 🙂

We will have our Standing On The Side of Love Banner and songsheets.  Wear yellow.

See you there – rain or shine (but it looks like any rain will be minimal and it won’t be freezing like it was for the climate justice rally!).
